About Me

My name is Jenna Hansen and my dream is that I will do something that will change the world. Ever since I was a little girl I saw the world differently, I could see all the good in the world when no one else really could. One of my favorite quotes was written by Desmond Tutu it says "Hope is being able to see that there is light despite all of the darkness." One thing that I have learned through my life is there is a lot of darkness in the world, and we just have to find some light in the world.

I grew up in a small town in New Hampshire, I had a wonderful life, but I grew up so different from everyone else I knew. When I was 18 months old my older sister was diagnoses with a rapid growing malignant PNET brain tumor. She endured two major brain surgeries and other multiple operations, treatments and other ailments caused from the tumor. After nine years of fighting with a smile on her face she passed away. This helped me to open my eyes a little more, I realized that I have experienced things that some people never will. Before I went into the 6th grade we moved to Colorado and when I reached high school I joined the EDGE program, a program that will and has helped me to find out what educational path I want to take and what I want to do with my future. I am working in school to get a certificate in computer sciences, or graphic design and hope to use my skills in my future.

What is art?

Art is an expression, it is an artistic statement on what we are doing or who we are. I feel that art is a way that you can express your emotions, and who you are through creative and new found ways. Art comes in any form that you can find painting, sculpting, building, drawing, on computer programs, and many other creative ways and things that you could every think of.

What is needed to create an effective design?

To even start to make an effective design I feel that you need an idea of what you are going to do and you need to have a drive or reason to make a design. It's not something that you just whip out, there should be a reason behind it. You need time to stop and focus and have a clean and effective work space that you can create in and feel comfortable. To make a design you need to check and look at it multiple times and at multiple angles to truly see what you are doing and what you could be doing to make it better. It would also be a great Idea to look for inspiration everywhere you can. You don’t know when it could pop up somewhere and inspire you to do something great.

What is the purpose of design in our world?

Every object that you see in the world from a piece of art to a chair in a classroom, is made by design. In our world design is used to make anything to everything. It gives the objects that we use purpose and a creative touch.
